Mizuho Financial Relocates Headquarters

Mizuho, the Japanese financial services group, has announced the relocation of the head offices of its two core businesses, the firm said in a statement.

Starting 9 December 2013, Mizuho Financial Group will be located at the Otemachi Tower in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Mizuho Financial is the main entity covering banking, securities, trust and asset management services. Mizuho Bank, the company's banking arm, will relocate to the same site in 7 May 2014. Some divisions will move to the Uchisaiwaicho head office building on the same area. 

Previously, both were located at 2-5-1, Marunouchi in Chiyoda-ku. Mizuho is led by Yasuhiro Sato, president and chief executive.

Mizuho was under the spotlight in October after the chairman of its banking business, Takashi Tsukamoto, and two other executives resigned for failing to crack down on mob-related loans. Sato had also committed to giving up a half year's worth of pay as apology but remained at his position.
